Commonly asked questions from Customers:

Question: Do you make custom length stringers?

Answer:  We do not make custom length stringers, however we do have bulk spools available for sale that can be purchased and cut and customized by you the customer. Please click here for our bulk spools.

Question: What is the wire gauge?

Answer: Our C9 strings are 20 gauge heavy duty SPT-1 wire.

Question: How many strings can be connected together safely?

Answer:  Our C9, 100 foot strings are non-connectable and only have one male fuse end. The max wattage is 959 watts.

Question: What is the lead length between the plug and the first socket?

Answer:  Our C9, 100 foot string has a 6 inch lead between the plug to the first socket. This particular strand is non connectable.

Question:  What is the base size of the socket?

Answer:  The base size of this socket is an E17, which measures as at ? ” and can fit an intermediate base bulb. We offer several options with the E17 Intermediate base. Please click the following products for bulb options, C9 bulbs and G50 bulbs

Question: What brand are these sockets?

Answer:  Our C9 strings are made with Admiral brand sockets.

Question: What Amp in the fuse in these stringers?

Answer:  Our C9 stringers have 8Amp fuses.

Question: Can I cut off the fuse plug?

Answer: This is not something we recommend purely for safety reasons, it will void the warranty of the stringer. If you have a hired electrician and they have the proper plugs for the wire then yes they can alter the string. However you can alter the length; for example your roofline only needs 87 feet, take the additional length off and use a female vampire plug to make the end safe. Please click the following link for a video on installing a female vampire plug

Question: Can you buy a male fused plug?

Answer: We do not offer the fused male plugs. We do offer a much easier option: vampire plugs. Click here for our options.

Question: How do I figure out the watts for an indoor and an outdoor socket?

Answer:  A typical household circuit can include several plug outlets, internal lighting fixtures or built-in appliances all on the same circuit. This means that whenever you plug your Christmas lights into the wall they are sharing that circuit's capacity with anything else that may also be drawing power. If very few things are on the circuit you have more wattage capacity. However, if your circuit already has a number of items drawing power from it, you may begin ""tripping your breakers"" in the fuse box. This happens when your wattage exceeds the amp capacity of the circuit.

Most household circuits are 15 or 20 amps

It is recommended that all circuits never exceed 80% of their max wattage capacity

15 amp circuits support 1,800 watts (80% capacity is 1,440 max watts)

20 amp circuits support 2,400 watts (80% capacity is 1,920 max watts)

Question: Can I use bulbs I already have in my new stringer?

Answer: You can use existing bulbs you already have; you just would need to confirm the base sizes are the same and that you either have all LED bulbs on the strand or all incandescent. You should not combine LED and incandescent bulbs. An incandescent bulb needs 5 watts of power to work the LED needs less than a watt to shine.

Question: How do I determine the total watts?

Answer:  To find out the total watts you would need to do watts per bulb times the number of bulbs to determine the total watts.

100 x 7 watt bulbs = 700 watts

Question: How do these hang from the roof?

Answer:  We have a variety of light clips that can be used to secure the stringers to the roof line. Click here for our clip options.

Question:  Are the strings SPT-1 or SPT-2?

Answer:  Our C9 strings are SPT-1.

Question:  Can I plug these into a standard 120V outlet.

Answer:  Our C9 strings can be plugged into a 120V.

Question:  Are the strings UL listed?

Answer: This string is not UL listed but uses UL recognized components.

Question:  Where is the fuse located?

Answer:  The fuse is located in the male plug. Look for a ribbed area that you can slide open, inside you will find 2 fuses, 1 is a replacement, the other is between 2 metal contacts and is the active fuse.

Question:  Do you have replacement fuses?

Answer:  Yes we do here is the link.

Question:  Do I have to fill each socket in order for it to work?

Answer:  For safety reasons you should have each socket filled, it is a live circuit when plugged in. The lights will work without all sockets filled but we do not recommend you leave it open.

Question: What colors does the magnetic string come in?

Answer:  The only color available in the magnetic stringer is green.

Question: Can these stick to aluminum gutters?

Answer:  Our C9 magnetic strings will stick to any ferrous metal such as steel and iron.

Question: What fuse is used for this stringer?

Answer: Our C9 magnetic strings have a 8 amp fuse located in the male plug.

Question: How many of these strands can I connect?

Answer:  Our magnetic C9 100 ft strand is non-connectable.
